I have a 4K TV and only see my sign smaller in the center of the screen with black around the four corners
Your 1920x1080 frame isn't filling the whole screen. You may see black around the whole sign.
Typically in this scenerio, your TV is a 4K TV. However the frame used in Signera is 1920x1080.

This usually is because of one of the following reasons:
1) You are connecting the media player to the wrong HDMI input on the TV (Some TVs only upscale on certain ports on the back of the TV. Also most TVs have multiple inputs, try a different input).
2) There is a setting not "turned on" on your TV. Go through the Menu/Functions on your Remote and try to turn up-scaling on or "Fit to Screen" or a similar option. Unfortunately every TV is different.
A fix that works on most TVs is as follows:
1) Change Display Scaling
- Click "Esc" on keyboard to drop Signera player window down into a smaller window
- Right-click anywhere on the Desktop
- Click on “Graphic Properties” drop-down option
- Click “Display” button
- Change “Scaling” option at bottom to “Maintain Display Scaling”
- Hit "Apply", Close "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel"
- Restart Media player
2) Another option is to try to turn off "Auto Configure Sign Display Settings" on the Signera system.
- To do this, go to "Manage Signs" or "Sign Network" within the Signera system
- Click the "Edit" button next to the Sign in question
- Change drop down of "Auto Configure Sign Display Settings" to "Media Player is Manually Configured" then hit "Save"
- Restart the media player to see if this resolves the issue.
Closing notes if the above doesn't work:
If you've tried all of the above and still have the issue, its unfortunately most likely the TV just doesn't upscale correctly. You'd notice the same problem if you hooked up a DVD Player, Xbox One, etc. as the problem is not Signera specific. Some of the lower end 4K TVs (Black Friday deals) intentionally do not include upscalers (as these are a pricey component/part of the TV) to keep the costs/prices down.
Because we are a software company, we cannot possibly know special features or nuance of every TV. So while the issue is most likely with the TV not having an upscaler, we can't definitively say this is the case.
Our final recommendation would be to contact the TV manufacturer or retailer where you purchased the TV to receive support from them. The TV manufacturer especially will have troubleshot this specific issue before (maybe not with "Signera hardware" specifically, but most certainly a DVD Player, Xbox One, etc). They may be able to quickly tell you what setting to use in the Menu Features (even accessing a "hidden" feature some of the time) or which HDMI port to use, or at least specifically stating whether it's possible or not to display a 1920x1080 signal full screen with your speciifc make and model TV.
