If your screen looks similar to the attached image, then this knowledge-base article pertains to you.

Your screen is showing a blue background with white text overlaid. This message does not go away.

This is routinely referred to "the blue screen of death" and the message is generally as bad as it sounds.

Typically it means something critical to run the computer abruptly failed.

The message refers to one of the following issues:

1) Someone plugged something into the media player recently, typically via the USB port, that isn't interacting as it should with the computer. If this is the case, immediately unplug this device, then restart the player.

2) The computer's Hard Drive is possibly failing. The problem will increasingly get worse over time. You can attempt to restart but may see the error again in the future. If you do, provide your serial # to us so we may initiate an RMA for you ASAP.

3) The computer's Memory or RAM is possibly failing. The problem will increasingly get worse over time. You can attempt to restart but may see the error again in the future. If you do, provide your serial # to us so we may initiate an RMA for you ASAP.

4) The computer's processing chip is possibly failing. The problem will increasingly get worse over time. You can attempt to restart but may see the error again in the future. If you do, provide your serial # to us so we may initiate an RMA for you ASAP.

Again, you may restart and attempt to use your player as normal. The system may ask you if you'd like to "Start Windows Normally" or enter "Recovery Mode" or "Safe Mode". Go ahead and "Start Windows Normally".

If the error comes up again, please let us know, so we may issue an RMA right away. Media players are typically in warranty for 3 years or 5 years (e-mail us your serial # to check).

It is possible the message does not come back up. This means that it was a one time error due to a fluke with one of the computer's components. Although rare, a warning window can trigger like this when no actual error exists. If this is the case, you may continue to use the player, as normal, without cause for concern.
