Configuring Signera Software to turn ON/OFF a Display Unit


This procedure applies to all displays. You will need to know the following information about your display: Physical Configuration of the serial port on the display. DB-9 or DB-25 Male or Female DCE or DTE These parameters will be used for the physical connection to the display. Data Transmission Configuration Baud/Data Rate {2400, 4800, 9600} Parity {N=None, E=Even, O=Odd} Data Bits {Number of Data Bits - 7 or 8} Stop Bits {Number of Stop Bits - 1 or 2} Flow Control {0 = Off, 1 = On} Format of Control Strings {ASCII or HEX} Control Strings Display Power ON {string to be sent to power on display} Display Power OFF {string to be sent to power off display} Time to Power On Display each Day {12 hour format - e.g., 8:00 PM} Time to Power Off Display each Day {12 hour format - e.g., 8:00 PM} COM Port Number for the USB-to-Serial Port installed on the Signera HD Media Player {1,2,3,4, etc} This information needs to be entered in the configuration file on the Media Player. With a Keyboard and Mouse, open Notepad as Administrator: Start->Program Files->Accessories->Notepad (Right Click and select Run as Administrator) In Notepad, select File->Open to bring up file selection dialog box Navigate to C:\Program Files\Signera\ In bottom right, select all files to display all the files in the folder. Open the file named signera content services.exe.config The file contents includes the following: Enter the value required for the display used in the config file. Save the file and exit Notepad. Restart the media player.
