I have a Flash or Fi logo on my screen


Signera HTML5 Upgrade Guide v1.3.1


A recent Adobe update may be affecting the ability of your sign to display. If the update is the problem with your sign an image for Adobe Flash (an F and l) will display. We have a new Signera system available that does not utilize Adobe Flash. The instruction below will walk you through the process of converting to the new software.

  • Please ensure you are at the Media Player/Box/device with a mouse and keyboard hooked up. This will not work from your desktop workstation,phone,etc. This upgrade must happen on the Media Player.

If you are running windows 7, it is highly recommended that you do the flash based update instead.

Quick Directions

For those familiar with operating a windows based PC
  1. Hit the esc key to get to the desktop.
  2. Set your time back to normal if you changed it
  3. Open the internet browser and type in signera.net/downloads/signera_update.zip or if you have this guide open on your media player click the link Signera Software Updater it will automatically start to download.
  4. Once the download is complete, Go to the downloads folder and unzip the file “signera_update.zip”
  5. Run “ SigneraKiosk Setup”. This should be at least version 1.3.1
  6. Wait for the installation to be complete. It will automatically start running once it is complete. If you get the message to get you mac address follow the substeps below

    1. Hit esc to window the Signera Kiosk
    2. Click the up icon in the right side of the task bar
    3. Right click on the red and white dots icon image
    4. Select “get mac address”
    5. Enter that mac address into the box in the signerakiosk and click ok
    6. Press the alt key to open the SigneraKiosk menu and select reload sign
7. It may take 1-5 minutes for the SigneraKiosk to download your sign. Once you sign up, press the “esc” key to minimize the software.

8. Go Back to the signera Update folder and right click SigneraDeactivateFlash.bat" and select “Run as Admin”

9. Restart the Media Player. Please ensure that the new Signera Kiosk runs and the old flash based player does not. You should see the new loading screen with the signera logo video. You should not see the Fi icon any longer.(DO NOT SKIP STEP 9)

DO NOT LEAVE THE MEDIA PLAYER WITHOUT RESTARTING. YOU NEED TO TEST TO ENSURE THE PROCESS WAS SUCCESSFUL. IF YOU LEAVE THE MEDIA PLAYER WITHOUT TESTING YOU MAY DISCOVER AN ERROR LATER AND NEED TO RETURN TO THE PLAYER TO FIX IT.

Step by Step Directions

For those who need more guidance with windows based computers


  1. Connect a mouse and keyboard to MediaStream player
  2. Hit the "esc" key if you are still seeing the Fi display.
  3. If you previously changed your time for the temporary fix, please follow the steps below to revert back to normal time.
  4. Now that your system is windowed, scroll to the bottom of the screen to reveal the auto hide taskbar
  5. Move to the right hand side of the taskbar to the date and time
  6. Open settings by clicking “Changes date and time settings”
  7. Click “Change date and time button”
  8. Click the date and change it back to the current date. You can click the “Internet Time” tab Then Change settings then update time to automatically set the time.
  9. Click OK and the OK again.
  10. Open the internet browser and type in signera.net/downloads/signera_update.zip and hit the enter key. The file will download automatically.
  11. Once the download is complete,Go to the downloads folder. This can be done by clicking the folder icon in the bar at the bottom. Next click Downloads. It is the second one down under the favorites.
  12. Right click the file “signera_update.zip” and select “Extract All..”
  13. Click Extract The next folder should open automatically but if it doesn't go to the new “signera_update” folder located in the downloads folder.
  14. Click to run “SigneraKiosk Setup” * if you get an error message saying you can't run 64 bit programs then please run the install the flash update instead.
  15. Wait for the installation to be complete. It will automatically start running once it is complete. If you get the message to get you mac address follow the substeps below

    1. Hit esc to window the Signera Kiosk
    2. Click the up icon in the right side of the task bar at the bottom of the screen
    3. Right click on the red and white dots icon image
    4. Select “get mac address”
    5. Enter that mac address into the box in the signerakiosk and click ok
    6. Press the alt key to open the SigneraKiosk menu and select reload sign
16. Go Back to the signera Update folder and right click SigneraDeactivateFlash.bat" and select “Run as Admin”

17. It may take up to 10 mins to display your sign depending on the complexity of the template that is being displayed . Once you sign up, press the “esc” key to minimize the software.

18. Restart the Media Player. You can do this by clicking the windows icon then selecting the power option and restart. Please ensure that the new Signera Kiosk runs and the old flash based player does not. You should see the new loading screen with thesigneralogo and logo video. You should not see the Fi icon any longer.(DO NOT SKIP STEP 12)

FAQ

Here are some things to assist you with this process.

  • You can turn on the Flash version on again by running “SigneraActivateFlash.bat”

  • If the New SigneraKiosk does not automatically load after a restart,. Please run the AutoStartFix_DONT_RUN_UNLESS_INSTRUCTED.bat

  • If you activated your sign as a new media player please contact support with the subject line “Double activation”. Signera staff will assist you.

  • If you have a lot of signs, you may want to test a single sign first.

  • If you run into any new issues while running the new software please send a message to support@signera.net
