We are seeing an error that says: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash to run slowly." on our sign.

If you recently made changes to your frame/template or module settings, the error may be due to settings/adjustments. Please see this article for more information: We made a change to our template/frame and now we see an error that says: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash to run slowly." on our sign.

This error (especially on a sign thats been playing without issues for a couple months) is due to one of three issues:

1) A faulty/failing fan within the unit, or dust covering up the vent holes (or in a fan-less player, the player isn't getting enough air-flow over its exterior heat sink case).

2) A media player that is relatively old (4+ years) but doesn't have a fan (but has good air flow), or it's fan is definitely working. There is also no dust covering the holes.

3) A customer recently added a non-optimized Video to an Adaptive Module

Example of the error message:

The module that triggered the issue will freeze. So if it was a Adaptive Module (Custom Slideshow Module) with flyers, it’d freeze. If it was a scrolling text bar, it’d freeze or be empty. Although this is only the module that triggered the freeze. Not necessarily the module that used up the processor and caused the freeze (although it usually is).

The three different issues are outlined below:

1) A faulty/failing fan within the unit, or dust covering up the vent holes (or in a fan-less player, the player isn't getting enough air-flow over its exterior heat sink case)

In older players it could be a sign that other components within the player have begun to fail.

If the player is still under warranty (usually 3 or 5 years) this repair/fix of the fan or other components would be covered via warranty repair.

If you can provide Signera Support the serial # of the unit we can check if the unit is still under warranty.

If it's not covered, we'd recommend first trying a can of compressed air on the vent holes to blow any dust out. Otherwise we can have the manufacturer provide a quote for out-of-warranty repair.

If the unit is fan-less, try a USB or AC plug-in fan to blow air over the top of the unit. Putting the media player near an AC vent or where air flow is constant would also be ideal.

2) A media player that is relatively old (4+ years) but doesn't have a fan (but has good air flow), or it's fan is definitely working. There is also no dust covering the holes.

In this case a Hard Drive or RAM may be failing. The slower reading and writing to the drive or RAM can cause the system's processor to get backed up thus cause this error to show. In this case we'd recommend getting an RMA or replacing the hard drive or RAM if possible. Otherwise you may want to look into a new media player.

If the player is still under warranty (usually 3 or 5 years) this repair/fix of the other components would be covered via warranty repair.

If you can provide Signera Support the serial # of the unit we can check if the unit is still under warranty.

If it's not covered, we can have the manufacturer provide a quote for out-of-warranty repair.

3) A customer recently added a non-optimized Video to an Adaptive Module

If you recently added a video and this error is happening, we'd recommend trying to re-optimize the video before creating it. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, we recommend using YouTube as they have some of the best video processing currently available. You will need a YouTube account but do NOT need to upload the video as public (so everyone can see). Simply upload the video to YouTube, then add the link to the "Add YouTube" button on Signera. After the new video is on Signera, you can delete the copy on YouTube.

More information on uploading a YouTube Video to Signera can be found in this article: How to upload video? / My video is choppy? / How to use YouTube on Signera?
