Date/Time is off on my media player, or I'm getting weird authentication errors, or I'm not able to see Signera's web site from the media player?

Either the date/time is off on your sign, or your media player is showing weird authentication errors, or you're not able to see Signera's web site from the media player, or a Signera Support representative sent you to this article and asked you to complete these steps.

The Date/Time is most likely showing the incorrect date/time. This is most likely because:

1) The CMOS battery on the motherboard has failed and the time/date is incorrect on the player.

The long-term fix would be to replace the CMOS battery. If you send Signera Support your serial # we can see if your media player is still under warranty so this replacement can be done at no cost to you by the manufacturer. If its not under warranty, you can attempt to fix it yourself (or hire a local IT company to fix it) or utilize out-of-warranty support.

2) The incorrect time-zone is set on the computer.

To immediately fix the date/time and timezone on the media player:

The timezone setting is unfortunately the one setting you’ll have to make local to the computer. Timezone changing information at the bottom of this article.

Timezone setting information

The date/time shown is actually decided by the local media player. It should update based on the time zone its in... but it hasn't (or it cannot reach NIST's time servers which automatically update these settings).

The box is a normal Windows box so the process of changing the date/time or even timezone is the same as on a Windows machine.

The first step is to hit Esc on the keyboard attached to the media player. This will cause the sign to go into a smaller window. Then you can hover over the lower right hand corner to make the taskbar appear. You should also see
the date/time. Double click on this. From here you should see up and down arrows to change the date/time. Also there should be a timezone tab to change that if needed, as well as a Internet Time tab where you can set the time server to get current time information. If the current one selected doesn't work, try another from the drop down list.

When you are done close out of everything and click into the signage window. Click CTRL-F and the sign will go back to normal.
